This Victorian doubled-sided oval snuff box with hinged lid features bezel set brown Scottish agate faces on the top and bottom. The ormolu (gold over brass) brass case has stylized decorative band of acanthus leaves motif all around. The stones are in excellent condition. The metal shows a little wear of the gilding. It is a good size and design for a pill box. It is well made with good opening function, and closes tight.

Small faux tortoise shell hinged snuff box from an estate sale. It is 2 1/2" X 1 3/8" X 11/16" with push button type latch. It is dated 1878 and I assume personalized but I can not make out what it says ( I think Edward something ? ). Hinge and latch in good working condition and the box is free of breaks/cracks, but does have a good deal of crazing (mostly on the top) and has not been cleaned.
