A very fine & original 2 air, tin cased musical box, unmarked as to maker, with one piece comb, mother of pearl buttons for start/stop & tune change. Still retains a delicate paper tune program label inside the lid: Ay ay Musilina(?) & Il Travatore, Duetto... Verdi. The exceptional applied lithograph depicts a view of Thalacker, then a suburb of Zurich. Described as "prise depuis la porte de la Sihl a Zurich",meaning: this view was captured from in front of the famous Sihl Gate, which was removed in 1834. The entire area now totally unrecognizable because of city development. The movement is lacking its geneva stop work, but that does not impair its operation in any way. Cylinder pinning excellent as is the comb & all teeth with no damages, repairs, etc... Another fine historical instrument & document, that with a little tender loving care, cleaning & re-dampering will be a great addition to any collection.
