Antique hand made wooden snuff box, looks like burl wood, 3 3/4" x 2" x 1/2" thick approx. Small chip on lid, shield motif center top. Nice craftsmanship, smooth outer finish on box. Weighs about 2 ounces. Believe Early English like 1840s- guess!
This is a very pretty box, with no chips, no dings. It does have two tiny little cuts close together on the bottom edge (which don't show unless you turn it over.) That area is shown in one of the photos. It is stamped Alpaca Mexico on the bottom. The hinge works as it should and the lid shuts down snugly.
