Scottish snuff mull, hinged top and cork stopper. Nice caramel color. Circa: 1820's. The word derives from the Scottish dialect for "mill" where the snuff was ground into a powder. Mulls came in a variety of sizes. The most common made from ram's horn. Made to fit into a pocket. Usually with silver mounts and hinges. Engraved with the name James Simson.
