English brass snuff or tobacco box with fine engraving, circa early 19th Century.
The octagonal box is engraved with the owner's name and place: P. Mason, Bolton England. The name and place are left in relief by engraving the area around them with a tiny repeating pattern. There are also four butterly - like motifs engraved above and below the name and place.
Excellent condition, including the clasp which shuts tightly. Measures about 4 1/2" x 2 3/4" x 1".
